Vale stranger from the waves! I thanked him for the chance,
Of launching from this islet-shore- the scene of my romance,
Yonder lay a myriad of possibilities,
Attained by ventured voyage- serendipity I'd seize.
Gift from my beloved one refracted amber rays,
Enhancing this accoutrement I'd treasure all my days.
Trysting on the island I had walked its bounds about,
Hospitable for lovers, but alas, I held no doubt,
Revisiting my time of bliss was not, as yet, to be,
Often must we earn our blessings; so I'd chance the sea.
Unsung, and unaccompanied, I rigged the stranger's bark,
Glamoured by accomplishment, I faced the striding dark,
Hastened to adventures; on a voyage to embark.
Fair was the wind that sang me on, and honest was the craft,
In its timbers roughly hewn and shallow in the draught,
Eerily the sun had set in harsh reflected fire;
Replayed in phosphorescence, burning from the ocean, dire-
Yet still it brought to mind a phoenix-death-defining pyre.
Stupified by tossing seas of cold, transcendent flame,
Enslaved and mesmerised I saw this world without a name...
Ashes of these memories I hasten to reclaim.
