chapter 29 sandstormed
Danced by the winds in a tilting of sea,
Albatross-wheeling 'twixt ocean and air,
Nacreous clouds spun a witched tapestry,
Grace of sweet Iris; a canopy fair.
Ends of the land – archipelagos' hems,
Ruffled about with an aquamarine;
Ornaments blushed by the blossoming stems,
Under the guise of a forested scene...
Shifting perspectives soon ended my dream.
Called to my notice by buffeting play,
Umbered sand billowed to stinging retort,
Riding the air was a painful display,
Reeling discomfort, an emeried sport.
Easy to plan, not so simple to do,
Nevertheless I went into a bate-
Trying to emulate frigates in lieu,
Saving myself from a sandpapered state.
Flung through the storming of onerous sand,
Lift did I forfeit for learning to ground,
Oh! How I feared my intention to land!
Waled by the wind in a fury of sound.
Ionised air zinging into my face,
Nightmare demeaning my zest without trace,
Gliding, ungraceful, I tumbled apace!
