Chapter 14 onward
Glimmering honeycomb ocean above, and a world of delusion below,
Rippled my wakening mind as I stirred, letting sorry uncertainty grow,
I hovered in stasis, at one with my grief for the sailors forever unknown,
Eleven men fallen to hideous fate, yet here was I bleeding alone.
Voracious adventure had tossed me aside; I was surely unfit for the fray,
I wept, inundated and bitter with tears; ululating the loss of my way.
Never to sail with the flurrying fleet, could I ever relinquish the shame?
Grieving for sailors I never could meet, and was never to know by a name.
Tom Journeyman ventured adventure and failed, the scars are tattooing me still,
However the fever of wanting to know was at work in my mind with a will...
Emblems of battle were seaming and sealed- but Tom hadn't journeyed his fill!
Under the ocean's ethereal gown I ventured to wander the sands,
Not knowing direction I blundered along, to abide subaquatic demands,
Krakenesque figures loomed over my mind in the gloom as I journeyed alone,
Never pausing I scanned apparitions of sand, lamenting the sea-swallowed bones.
Only the mind-shield preserving my breath gave me leave to continue my quest,
Weltered emotions were driving me onward; my spirit annealed by the test-
Newborn to ideals in this otherness' plane, I continued. New hope I professed.
